In some developing countries poverty kills 1 in 3 children in
their infancy. World Vision, one of the world’s leading
relief and development agencies is working to help stop this through
their Child Sponsorship programme.
Becoming a Child Sponsor is a meaningful and rewarding experience
for both the child and the sponsor. Not only does your support
provide the essentials a child needs to survive such as clean
water, basic healthcare and enough food, but also an education
to try to break the cycle of poverty. The direct relationship
you have with your sponsored child, through letters and cards
will also give them hope through the knowledge that someone cares.
But without Child Sponsors this simply won’t happen.
Make a difference and sponsor a child now from as little as 60p
a day, the cost of a can of soft drink.

WWF
is the world's largest and most experienced independent conservation
organisation; a truly global network, working in more than 90
countries; a challenging, constructive, science-based organisation
that addresses issues from the survival of species and habitats
to climate change, sustainable business and environmental education;
a
charity dependent upon its five million supporters worldwide -
some 90 per cent of our income derives from voluntary sources
such as people and the business community.
Adopt an animal today
Example:
Kiruba is a female Asian elephant who lives in Corbett National
Park, in the Terai Arc lowlands of India. Kiruba is the dominant
female in an extended family of 24 elephants. As the matriarch
of the group she is relied upon to find food, water and safe habitat.
From
just £2 a month, you can adopt Kiruba. Your support will
enable WWF to secure a future for Kiruba and other elephants
in this area, and to develop our work in the Terai Arc region.
It will also help us fund our vital elephant programme in Kenya,
and provide support for TRAFFIC - the wildlife trade monitoring
network that helps track the illegal ivory trade.

You're
about to discover just how amazing it can be to give the gift
of sight. At Sight Savers, they work in the world's poorest countries,
restoring sight and giving hope to many adults and children who
are needlessly blind.
For over 50 years, we have changed the lives of a great many people
in the world's poorest countries. They work alongside local organisations
and governments to teach basic eye care skills and hygiene to
adults and children. They help to fund eye screening camps, operations,
treatments, education, surgical training, as well as supporting
rehabilitation programmes.
The
effects of their work can be seen in whole communities. They
show people how to stop the spread of disease, they also teach
adults better eye care for their children, and where children
are looking after blind adults, they help them to return to
school. In these cases, they restore a feeling of pride and
dignity to those who have lost their sight - and work towards
giving the sufferers and the people around them a brighter future.
Thanks
to Sight Savers and their local partners, nearly 55 million
people have been treated for potentially blinding conditions
and sight has been restored to 4.75 million individuals.
